Yurevich in 1881 was known as Jurewicze. It is described in the Geographical Dictionary of the Kingdom of Polish and other Slavic Countries, Volume III.

1) Jurewicz is a small town in the former province of Minsk, near the Rechitsa district. The river Pripyat runs on the left bank with tributaries Brahin and Chojnik flowing to Mozyr. Lithuanian Jesuits settled in the area in 1726 and built a magnificent temple. Jesuits were moved to Bernardine. A Catholic parish was then established in 1866 belonging to the Mozyr-Rechitsa deans with a chapel in Hliniszczu. The village has about 140 houses, 900 inhabitants, a police station and a rural school. The municipality is comprised of 18 rural areas, 43 villages and has 2,335 peasants. Jurewicz is beautiful, an oasis amount the marshes of Rechitsa. Stanislaus August [gave privileges?] to the town in 1778. Jesuit historian Rostowski does not mention the city although it is important to his order.

2) Jurewicz is a small farm village in the Poleska municipality. [Shumen State] north of the city Ihumonia. In the fifteenth century, the village belonged to the Kieżgajłłów family. Stanislaw Kieźgajłło in 1447 gave the property to Vilnius bishops. After 1795, Empress Catherine II [received/took?] several Szewiczowi manors. peci z lewej strony, przy 1 małym trakcie
wiodącym z Łojowa, Brahina, Chojnik do Mo-
zyrza, w malowniczej miejscowości położone.
Jezuici litewscy mieli tu swoją misyą od roku
1726 i zbudowali wspaniałą świątynię. Po je-
zuitach byli tu bernardyni, później kapucyni.
Parafia katolicka przetrwała w Jurewiczach do
r. 1866 (należała do dekanatu mozyrsko-rze-
czyckiego i miała kaplicę w Hliniszczu), wte-
dy bowiem kościół został zamieniony na cer-
kiew. Miasteczko ma około 140 domów, 900
mieszk.; mieści się tu biuro II okr, polic.; jest
szkółka wiejska. Gmina się składa z 18 sta-
rostw wiejskich, 43 wsi i liczy 2335 włościan
płci męzkiej. Jurewicze sa prawdziwą malow-
niczą, oazą śród głuchych topielisk polesia
rzeczyckiego. Posiadają przywileje króla Sta-
nisława Augusta z r. 1778. Historyk jezuitów
Rostowski nie wspomina o tern miejscu chociaż
miało ono ważne znaczenie dla Polesia pod
względem misyi tego zakonu. Dobra, J. w po-
wiecie rzeczyckim, niegdyś Oskierków,od roku
1875 kupca Bakunienki, mają obszaru przeszło

rządem gminnym i folwark w pow. ihumeń-

przy małym trakcie pocztowym berezyńskim

szane z Barbarowem. Miejsce to w wieku XV
należało do możnej rodziny Kieżgajłłów i who-
dziło w skład wielkich dóbr Baksztami zwanych.
Stanisław Kieźgajłło stolnik litewski wraz z
innemi dobrami oddał J. w. r. 1447 na włas-
ność biskupom wileńskim. Po roku 1795 cesa-
rzowa Katarzyna II, udziełając donatywy
swym jenerałom, darowała J. z kilku innemi
folwarkami Szewiczowi, które do dziśdnia są
własnośeią tej rossyjskiej rodziny. Gmina ju-
rewicka składa się z 7 starostw, 42 niewiel-
kich wiosek i ma 1960 włośoian płci męzkiej.
Jest tu cerkiew parafialna, szkółka wiejska i
stacya pocztowa; wieś ma osad 10. W tym
obrębie dziedzictwo Szewiczów ma obszara o-
koło 30000 mr. w glebie piaszczystej. Por.
